Background Rendering
Background rendering lets Resolve process render jobs, quick exports, proxy generation, and even transcription/audio classification while you keep working in the interface. It’s disabled out of the box because it’s genuinely resource-intensive and can slow your system noticeably depending on your CPU, RAM, and drive throughput.
To turn it on: DaVinci Resolve > Preferences > User > Background Tasks, then check Enable background renders. From there:
Pause background renders on foreground activity hands your CPU back to you the moment you start actively working, then resumes the background job when you pause.
Under Task Options, you choose which specific jobs get backgrounded — Transcription and Proxy Generation each have their own checkbox, so you’re not forced to background everything at once.
